Flagship route · 7 days

One week without racing.

A first Tunisia route that groups the capital region, one inland heritage stop, and one central-coast base.

Planning boundary

This is an editorial route framework, not a live timetable. Confirm every intercity leg, site opening, airport transfer and ticket with the relevant operator.

Day by day

Tunis → Kairouan → Sousse.

Three sleeping bases are enough. The route deliberately avoids trying to combine the far north, central coast and deep south in seven days.

01Tunis

Tunis

Arrive, settle in, and use the remaining time for central Tunis rather than forcing a day trip.

02Tunis

Tunis

Explore the medina with enough time for orientation, food, and unplanned stops.

03Tunis

Tunis

Combine Carthage and Sidi Bou Said only after confirming site openings and the return connection.

04Kairouan → Sousse

Kairouan → Sousse

Use Kairouan as the focused inland stop, then continue to one central-coast base.

05Sousse

Sousse

Keep a full day for the UNESCO-listed medina and the modern coast.

06Sousse

Sousse

Choose one excursion: El Jem for archaeology or Monastir for a shorter coastal day.

07Departure

Departure

Protect the final transfer. Do not schedule a distant attraction before a fixed flight.

Book in this order

Protect the fixed parts first.

  1. Confirm arrival and departure airports.
  2. Choose the Tunis and Sousse neighborhoods.
  3. Verify the Tunis–Kairouan–Sousse transfer plan.
  4. Check opening days for the medinas and chosen excursion.
  5. Leave one replaceable activity for weather or delays.

Adapt the week

Change the emphasis, not the geography.

01

Beach-first

Replace Kairouan and Sousse with Hammamet when the priority is a slower resort stay and fewer transfers.

02

History-first

Keep Tunis, Kairouan and Sousse, and choose El Jem on day six. This is the most coherent first-trip heritage route.

03

Southern focus

Do not bolt Tozeur or Djerba onto this northern week. Fly into the south or build the full week around one southern region.

Primary orientation

Route anchors and operating checks.
